Keep up the seasons training this half term with some home sessions where possible – cycling and running on grass and transitions which can be practiced indoors when its raining. For those intending to use cleats on their bikes please refer to the race day information and the course layout as the Basildon Triathlon transitions are generally in 2 sections – shoe change on exit from the pool then a run up the running track approx 50m then onto a gravelled area (painful on the feet) where the bikes are racked- the benefit gained by the cleats may not recover a slow approach run to the bike racking area, needs some consideration especially for our younger athletes – Toe clips maybe the better option.
