2016 Season Review
13.03.16 Duathlon Bedford Autodrome
On Sunday 13th March, Tom and Lauryn competed in their first Duathlon at Bedford Autodrome.
After an early night and a very early start we arrived at the Autodrome in thick fog. Thankfully the fog lifted in time for the races and only a chill factor spoiled near perfect conditions.
Tom went first in the Tristar 1 race and despite confusion over the route he was first to finish the run section. After a safe transition on to the bike he put in a good performance amongst some great cyclists.
Despite a spectacular fall whilst dismounting, he pushed on bruised and bloodied, and completed the second fastest run time, helping him cross the line in an overall position of 7th.
Lauryn was next up, a little nervous especially after watching her brothers fall, she put in a good first run and safely transitioned onto the bike. After a hard first ride with an extra detour (!) she saved the best until last and put in an outstanding final run of 4.41 (third fastest girl and 9th overall), finishing the whole event in 10th place.
Highlight of the day, however was cheering Abbie on, whilst she stormed the Tristar 3 event finishing 2nd. Great inspiration for our fist timers. Congratulations to all.
